The waiting period for the 2011 Peligroso At Todos Santos big wave surf contest is under way! After the grassroots success of the Todos Santos Event that was won by Mark Healey in 2010, Peligroso Tequila signed on as the title sponsor for the 2011 contest and
will be offering up an impressive $30,000 purse for the overall event winner. Between now and February 28th, the best big wave surfers in the world will be on call in hopes that mother nature cooperates and serves up the required 30 foot surf to run the contest.
Invitees for the contest include: Mark Healey, Carlos Burle, Greg Long, Jamie Sterling, Kohl Christensen, Chris Bertish, Grant "Twiggy" Baker, Peter Mel, Shane Desmond, Anthony Tashnick, Ramon Navarro, Marcos Monteiro, Kelly Slater, Cristian Merello, Shane Dorian, Kealii Mamala, Grant Washburn, Ken "Skindog" Collins, Coco Nogales, Rusty Long and Dave Wassel. New to this years event will be an early "local heat" of Todos Santos regulars who will compete for a spot in the main event. The local heat will include Garth Engelhorn, Derek Dunfee, Diego Pertusso, TJ Seaman, David Rutherford, Will Dillon, John Walla and Juan Valdivia.
Check out the trailer below with some of the highlights and horrific wipeouts from the contest last year, along with some commentary from the surfers.
I recently purchased insurance for my trip with Baja Bound because of their reputation and reviews..... Easy enough to purchase and print online, you just need your VIN and Plate #'s. We fortunately didn't need to submit a claim nor were asked for proof of insurance while spending a week in Mexico, but it was reassuring having printed off the policy and having access to it online. I bought online because it was easy a little leery about buying insurance in person at the border. Thanks for offering this service.

I've used Baja Bound for a number of years to insure both cars and motorcycles on trips I've made...to Baja and to central Mexico. The purchase of policies is very easy to do online, and I appreciate the convenience. Thankfully, until recently, I have never had to make a claim on a policy. On a recent trip through Baja, however, bad luck intervened and I hit a cow standing lengthwise in the middle of the highway as I came around a bend on my motorcycle. After sorting out medical issues I made a claim directly with the insurer for towing the bike back to the US for repairs. The insurer's claims office was responsive, but very slow in deciding how to address the problem. In looking at my policy, I saw that I could call Baja Bound for help in processing the claim. When I did, everything changed. Yara at Baja Bound was immediately on the problem and contacted the claims agent and her supervisor, both of whom she knew, who are located in the state of Guanajuato. What had languished for more than two weeks suddenly was addressed in two days. I can't recommend Baja Bound highly enough. Their direct knowledge and willingness to help out was frankly unexpected, and truly a game-changer.
