Virtual Holiday Gift Auction Benefits Cross-Border Region

Join Berry Good Food for its online Holiday Gift Auction on November 19-23, 2020, and bid on unique, one-of-a-kind items whose proceeds will benefit sustainable food programs in San Diego and northern Baja, including notable artwork, high-end fashion accessories, hotel stays, a 2-day chauffeured food and wine tour in the Valle de Guadalupe, and much more.

Established in 2015, Berry Good Food (BGF) is a nonprofit organization that aims to tackle the barriers—educational, economic, systemic, infrastructural—standing between people and local, sustainably produced food in the cross-border agricultural region that provides nutrient-rich food for so many. Part of BGF’s mission is to partner with like-minded organizations to deepen the reach and impact of our shared goals.

In 2018 BGF began a fruitful partnership with ProVino, an association of 67 wineries in Baja California that promotes the region’s wine while providing assets and safeguards for its members to create the highest quality product possible. BGF participated in ProVino's annual “Conferencias en Flor,” a three-day family-friendly festival that focuses on sustainable topics like ecoagriculture, water conservation, enotourism, and biodiversity.

In 2019 BGF worked with ProVino and Baja Wine + Food, a bespoke travel service, to help raise funds and provide tools for the wine valley’s volunteer fire department after a particularly devastating fire season.

In 2020, after learning that BGF had built an edible garden at Baja’s Enrique C. Rébsamen elementary school, ProVino identified a need for a similar garden at the Niños de Baja orphanage when it was delivering care packages during Covid-19. Their joint efforts led to the recent completion of a children’s garden that will provide education and sustenance for years to come.
